Personal & Social Development
We hope that all the children will learn to work, play and co-operate with others, upholding their own and the Early Year's personal values. We hope that they will learn to treat others with respect, caring and concern. That through using their imaginations in the home corner role playing, they may develop an understanding of different cultures and experiences. That they may learn to share and behave in a pleasing manner. The Early Years Centre has always believed that all children should be given equal opportunities and for that reason we have always welcomed children with special needs. We feel it is a most important part of the Early Years as all our children are special in some way and are all entitled to the same level of care. Above all we aim for the children within the Early Years to enjoy a safe, caring, comfortable and stimulating environment.

Communication, Language and Literacy
Sharing books, talking about pictures, simply holding a book correctly and reading from left to right, picking out simple words; practitioner to pupil reading. We have our own library containing over 400 books. Your child may choose a book each week to take home. We have our own writing programme and every child is given a book bag. Every child is allowed to write at their own pace, but hopefully will be able to recognise and write their own name, a few numbers and letters.

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
We have a number workshop area which is available for all parents to see. This entails each child recognising colours, shapes, numbers, weights, sizes, height and simple addition/subtraction.

Knowledge & Understanding of the World
A topic each term will form a base to expand knowledge and understanding of the world, exploring the environment in its many diverse forms.

Physical Development
We have a wide range of large equipment for physical play, including a fenced outside play area. With musical movement, there is singing, dancing, beanbags, parachute and musical instruments.

Creative Development
Our creativity programme may follow different themes and may include multi-cultural festivals. To bring science through creative play we cook, plant bulbs and seeds, sew using needles and scissors. We glue, cut out, fold and make creative models.
We include role-play in our themed activities.
